McWane’s Science On A Sphere opens this weekend
This evening, I decided to check the McWane Science Center website and see what the schedule was for the IMAX showings of Harry Potter. Surprise, surprise… there in the left margin on the homepage was an announcement about the opening of the Science on a Sphere. I had a chance to see this space under construction and can’t wait until I can see it in completed form!
“NOAA’s Science on a Sphere® is a global display system that uses computers and video projectors to display planetary data onto a GIANT animated globe. Researchers at NOAA developed Science On a Sphere® as an educational tool to help illustrate Earth System science to people of all ages. Animated images of atmospheric storms, climate change, and ocean temperature can be shown on the sphere which is used to explain complex environmental processes, in a way that is simultaneously intuitive and captivating. The cutting edge technology landed Science On A Sphere on TIME Magazine’s Best Inventions 2006 List!” – from McWane Science Center’s website
p.s. — if you didn’t get a chance to attend one of February’s Harry Potter Parties… you have one more chance listed on March 3rd.
