IMAX Begins

25 September 2006

I’m dying to get down to the McWane Science Center to see feature-length movies on the IMAX dome screen.  Showing every Thursday through Sunday evenings, we now get more than otherwise great science flix in our home town.  I’ve been to the IMAX in Atlanta to see movies, and it’s over-the-top overwhelming to be wrapped in the big screen… and *that* one is a flat screen.  Not knowing what to expect, I’ll bet that the experience watching a movie under the dome will be equally awesome.

Batman Begins is the first of many announced movies scheduled for the big (very big) screen.  Not very far behind are Spiderman and Polar Express.  I saw Tim Ritchie, McWane Science Center’s CEO, last week at the TechMixer and (almost) begged him to bring MATRIX to Birmingham.  I’d have to see it once a week, perhaps on Sundays with their $5 IMAX Dome Theater tickets!

See you at the movies.

My kids love to visit the McWane Center when we visit the folks down there. It’s good to know that they are offering “real” movies.
