McWane’s IMAX bags a bigger billing in Birmingham

HP5 @ IMAXHP at the IMAXAccording to the McWane Science Center’s website, it appears that our own domed IMAX Theatre will soon get a first-run movie, coincident with the theatrical release on July 13th. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, of course, is the movie of which I speak. I’m not the biggest Potter-head, but I think the movie will be unmatched on the big-bigger-biggest screen in town. Mark your calendars and watch for advance tickets sales.

Fandango can send you a FanAlert™ e-mail as soon as tickets for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix are available in metro Birmingham… Send me a FanAlert™.

  1. I can’t wait to see it! My soon-to-be mother-in-law told me about the Imax/Potter showing a month or so back and also says that they are planning to deck the whole building out to look just like Hogwart’s and other Harry-Potter-verse places. :D

Pott-head DOES NOT represent the fandom! Potterheads, HP fanatics, HP Fandom or HP fan girls or HP fan guys are what we prefer to go by. The fandom crosses all ages. Pott head gives a negative impression. Please get it right next time. We love all things Harry Potter from the books, movies, to Wizard Wrock bands. The summer of HP is huge! It is bittersweet for many of us. I’ve just returned from the Harry potter conference in New Orleans. It was incredible. I attended break out sessions on Book 7 predictions, fanfiction publishing, podcasting, wizard wrock concerts, etc. I attended an event called Storyville which MTV helped sponsor to get info for a wizard rockumentary that just aired 6/6/07 on MTV. It was awesome. I also helped to work on a Habitat for Humanity house with other Potterheads. What other fan groups have done that? The fandom has similarities to Trekkies and Star Wars fans, but it includes a larger age range b/c the books appeal to so many.

I don’t normally rant, but being apart of such an awesome fandom has been a great deal of fun. I don’t think Jo (J.K. Rowling) would appreciate the Potthead term. She frequents many of the websites: The Leaky Cauldron, Mugglenet, and HP Lexicon to take a pulse of the fandom and what is going on. She wants EVERYONE to read and not be referred to as Pottheads! Thanks for listening!

  4. Thank you Paige… I stand corrected and have thus corrected the original post to read Potter-head.
